SkillUp Game
Improving the competency of "problem solving in technology-rich environments" among low-skilled adults through gamification, serious games, and LARPs
Project timeline
1 Nov 2019 – 28 Feb 2022
Main project goal
Development of problem-solving competency in technology-rich environments, which according to the PIAAC study is underdeveloped among adults. This competency is defined as the ability to use digital technologies, communication tools, and networks to acquire and evaluate information, communicate with others, and manage practical tasks.
To this end, we will develop a comprehensive methodology using gamification, serious games, and LARPs (live action role-playing) to support the development of key competencies among low-skilled individuals, expand their educational opportunities, and contribute to the methodological training of educators and trainers.
Project topic
Currently, there are millions of people in Europe with low literacy, numeracy, or language competencies. In the context of the fourth industrial revolution, Europe has seen a demand for higher-level competencies — critical thinking, creativity, problem solving, and collaboration. When individuals have developed these competencies, they are better positioned in the labour market.
